Is This a Phoenix Rooster??

Some longtail breeds do not molt their tail feathers, but I am pretty sure that they all have some molting, and since phoenix is a more or less re-invented breed from onagadori, I am not sure if they have that trait or not. I think there are some longtail threads in the "Breeds, Genetics & Showing" section where you could get a better answer.

molting will depend on your line he is from. some lines are supposed to be none molting. all of my parents long tails (sumatra's and yokohama's and a phoenix not yet 6 months of age) have all molted their feathers.

Most of what I read (and this is NOT an area I am significantly familiar with) said or implied that it is only the tail feathers that do not molt regularly, not the entire bird. Also, even they molt every few years (2-3, but could be more).

That is what I read about their tails; I think the rest of the plumage molts on a more normal schedule. And that the breed and line can make a huge difference. That is the implication I get from what I have read. I have no experience with longtail breeds (other than once owning a phoenixXsilkie), so can only rely on what I have read that seem to be from reputable sources.
