OMG! Are they real???? How do they grow such long tail feathers?!

Onagadoris, and they are definitely real. Their feathers get so long due to a non-molting gene, and i believe the record held for longest tail is 45 feet!

Yes, they're real. As we know them, they are called phoenix. There are people who breed them for the sole purpose of amazingly long tail lengths. That can be accomplished with the proper breeding, proper lighting, proper feed, setup, so on and so on. It takes an incredible amount of patience.

Actually, those are not Phoenix. Onagadori and Phoenix are not the same bird. We don't have true Onagadoris like that in the United States though.

Do they have to keep those things wrapped so they don't break, kinda like a show poodle?

That is amazing. The pics looked too old to be photoshopped. Wow.

How do they walk? It seems like the weight of the tail would keep them from moving around...
