Is this a rir?

Is this a rir or some type of hybrid??

I thought it meant Rhode Island Red-a popular chicken breed.

I'm no egg-spert but i have seen them dark like that before. Though i guess it could be a cross. Sorry I'm not much help

A RIR should be dark like that or even darker. The lighter coloured ones are either hatchery quality or production reds which are usually a hybrid and then of course you get red sex links whick some people mistakenly think are Rhode Island Reds but they are more orange/brown and have white under feathers and flecks. RIR should be a dark mahogany colour and often have black tips to their tail.

Looks like a hatchery bred RIR. The hybrids tend to be more orange. But, if you haven't ever seen one, the show quality birds look quite a lot more auburn and they should be brick shaped rather than round.

I guess she a hybrid then. Might add some rir to my flock.
