Is this a roo?

No saddle feathers from what I can tell. They like to hang out under my boat during the day for the shade and when I walked out there she didn't come out from the boat until I called had to crawl under there and push her out. She growled at me more then once. She was in the sitting position the whole time. I don't know if she was just lazy or practicing her egg laying squat.

That's what I'm thinking! I had to repeatedly call for her to come out from under the boat. No egg from what I can see but it is hard to see under the boat. I am going fishing today and when we pull the boat out I will be able to see. I don't think there is an egg there but who knows!

18 weeks? I thought eggs were not around until the chickens were 20-24 weeks old. We are new to this with 8 chickens and they are 12 weeks old now. 2 are roosters. I have read that if you have some dominant roosters, then the less dominant ones won't really show themselves until/unless the dominant one is removed (somehow, freezer camp or dumplings).

Is she your only B.O.? in comparison to the other b.o.'s did she feather out slower or at the same rate< people will argue but i have notices that baby roos feather out slower that baby hens.... MY little bantam cochin roo was slower to feather but quick to crow he started crowing at 9 weeks old, seriously, no joke...

She is my only BO and these are my first chickens ever. Except I have had experience working on a chicken farm with 400+ chickens but never actually paid attention to the differences between young roosters and hens except for the crows and eggs.

It all depends on the breed. My first layer was a gold star and a little over 17 weeks. My EE's, on the other hand, layed at about 6 1/2 months. (They are known to be late bloomers.)

No saddle feathers from what I can tell. I just walked out of my house to watch her swallow a jeweled curly tail lizard whole. They are huge. This thing was like 7 inches long. She acted like she was choking on it and then drank a lot of water afterwards. Is that ok? I just wanted to check with that incident. She is walking an breathing and whatnot but should she be eating stuff that long?
