surely there is someone in your community that would LOVE to have a great home with hens for one of their roosters... put up a flyer in the feed store or something saying you want a rooster for breeding, not eating. i bet you will get your choice of roosters!

there are plenty of free roosters on the Buy/Sale/Trade section of BYC, depending on where you are but you should make sure the people that own them want another rooster first.
