My chickens are almost 4 months old and I thought I had all hens but this little one appears to be a rooster. I am a new chicken owner so i had to do a bit of research abt the differences between hens and roosters but I wanted to get your opinion. Its a dwarf cochin pullets. So it's a lot smaller than the other chickens I have. Appears to have the hackles and tail feathers of a male but I wanted to see what you guys think.

Agreed. Bantam (not dwarf) Cochin rooster.

Bantam Cochins are typically sweet, even as roosters, so if you can keep roos, he may be one to keep.

Haha that makes sense because he is the most timid and sweetest of my 6 chickens. As of yet he doesn't have any of the behavioral characteristics of a rooster. Fortunately i live in a rural area so there are no ordinances banning roosters. Plus he is my favorite so I won't be getting rid of him. ::D

He's so pretty! So happy you can keep him. My first roo was a bantam Cochin. He was AWESOME! And they are a bit easier on the gals backs too.

X2 regarding bantam cochins.....super sweet birds. The first rooster I had (many many years ago) was a bantam cochin and I am so glad because he set the standard for me regarding what a good rooster is rather than some folks who experience a jerk and then just think that is how roosters are and never expect more
