Is this a rooster??

There was a thread on BYC recently about someone who had surgery on their cockrell. Unfortunately, he died during surgery.
Please reconsider. Quality of life is just as important as quantity/length of life.
Whatever you decide, I wish you and your cockrell the best.

Any chance you have a link to that thread? I'm definitely not considering the surgery as I LOVE hearing a cockerel/rooster crow, even if it's excessive and begins before daylight. Now there is a large gated housing development with a 24/7 guarded entrance, on the other side of the road from me. I'm sure a lot of those folks aren't too happy with my boys, especially at 5am. They have laws that do not allow any chickens in the community, so I'm hoping no problems arise. I don't believe there is anything they can do legally because this land isn't part of their community, but I've heard, "Shut up!" once or twice obviously directed at my crowing boys. I don't want to be a constant nuisance neighbor but want to be completely prepared for anything if ever needed. Since my boys are all too old for the surgery, it won't happen but it's best to be prepared and have some knowledge

Yes I am planning on giving my rooster the surgery when he is old enough, so in 2 months from now

I wasn’t trying to say that the surgery was illegal, but that if you decrow your rooster, he’s still a rooster. You said it’s illegal to have one. If he’s caught you could still be fined and have your flock removed.
If you do keep him, and breed him, what will you do with his sons, you will eventually have?

He isn’t wanted because of his noise my neighbors are ok with a quiet rooster .and if we do get baby boys from him we will either sell them or just eat them. Having baby Roos aren’t a problem.
