Is this a rooster ?

I've never really looked for testicles when I butcher, but my guess would be that bean-like thing on the intestine in the center of the second pic. He was young enough they'd still be pretty small.

So after I gut it, I realized that there were worms in the intestine. You can see them in the 2nd photo. I believe they are round worms. Should I be worried or are these intestinal worms fairly common?

Roundworms are very common in chickens. If the infestation becomes heavy enough, they can become a threat to the chicken's health. There is a good article on roundworms in poultry at http://animalscience.ucdavis.edu/phi/PHI/ROUNDWORMS PHI Handout from Dr. Smith.pdf.

Testicles are up high just under the backbone of the rooster. You can look up "Capon" and it explains how to remove the testicles of a rooster to make a finer eating bird.

Yea, I actually tried to practice caponizing the carcass of this bird but couldn't locate the testicles. Pulled out all the organs and still nothing. Maybe it was female afterall? It sure looked like a rooster.
