Is this a sign of molting????

My poor rooster looks awful. He is losing all of his feathers. Is this what molting is? I have 18 hens and they are fine. Do you think he is overworked & stressed? It's kinda sad looking.

Very well could be. I had a hen that recently had a VERY hard molt, and there were feathers EVERYWHERE and she looked awful. Then, I've had others molt so lightly you would barely notice.

He won't "overwork" himself, so don't worry 'bout that!

Yeah, I've been wondering about my rooster too. He's looking shabby lately but I also noticed around his neck that he had some new feather shafts coming in and he's about a year old now ? I think I read that's when they first molt ?

My BA hens look fine. . . but there have been a lot of black feathers floating around . . . well, before the lawn was done anyway..
