Is this an Ameraucana?

I agree with everyone else, the top picture is from the ABC and she has not been given permission to use it.

The second picture is of an easter egger. My personal opinion is run away..................

Well if you're really wanting pure ameraucana, I wouldn't deal with her. She may have a pure bird but doesn't know the second pic is an ee? Don't buy anything before seeing a pic of the actual bird!

Thanks donrae, but I wasn't going to purchase until I saw the actual bird live. I always ask for pics first as to not waste my time and gas (can you believe how much gas has gone up?) before going to see them. When dealing with craigslist there are so many in my area selling EEs as Ameraucanas so I have to be real careful. That's why I love this website and always ask for help here when I'm not sure.

Then you have come to the right place!

Sometimes its best to come in here for any chicken advise to find out if it is the REAL McCoy or not. After you get all of your advices being read, you can then decide whether or not to get the bird yourself. Only you can make the final decision.

(Psst. Everyone. Easter Egger sounds so demeaning! Why not just call the second bird a "project golden ducking?" I have seen uglier projects before, believe me...)

(Oh, and I remember those Craigslist ads... Once woman I was going to check out a pair of "silver laced cochins" from lifted a pic of a pair of silver laced wyandottes from Feathersite... >_>)

Anyway, good for you for posting it on here! You'll have to tell us if you get him or no... if he looks anything like that first one he's a handsome devil.

Who ever said they're ugly? It's an improper duckwing, yes, but calling it a project duckwing (Ameraucana) would be far from truth. . . . Getting a gold duckwing Ameraucana is easier than obtaining green legged EE's, as Ameraucanas do indeed come in Silver Duckwing, and crossing Wheaten in there, then back to Duckwing, is a much better route.

Nope, craiglist scares me now. I decided to get a rooster from Christine Kitsch from the ABC breeder's list. Nothing is definite yet, but we have been emailing back and forth. I'm real happy with the pics she has sent me. Just have to OK it with hubby first. I have two bators full and a rooster and 12 hens. I have to convince him that the black rooster I lost just has to be replaced or I might just explode.
