Ahhh i see. i did not know that said the newbie.. leg color as a first year person has been confusing me as to why some are different than they should be thanks for teaching me something new lanae.
I went outside and picked mine up and they definitely have the white skin when you pull the feathers apart and look. Your right most of mine do have more greenish looking legs. I thought that was weird also. i have several breeds with 3 or 4 having different leg color than they should have. I was under the assumption that they have slate Grey legs. When i go onto the site
http://www.ameraucana.org/standard.html they don't even mention color when they talk about legs and toes. But all of the pics on the site do have slate Grey looking legs that can get pretty dark so i felt OK in making that assumption.
You are wrong about the next post though. Your pic you posted is of a bantam mine is a large fowl. i ordered all large fowl and only a cpl impulse buys snuck some bantams into my flock. Here is a pic of a large fowl wheaten female. They do have black feathers in there primaries I'm not sure if it can only be 2 though. i don't know anything really. I was already thinking the color in the hackle was a disqualifying factor if i wanted to breed.. thanks for teaching me that also. here is a pic of the large fowl standard. definitely no color in hackles. also I'm thinking my birds wings don't angle down as much as these pics show. Thanks for the knowledge and picking apart my bird for me lol. i need people to do that for me. I'm afraid my 5 week old i posted a pic of also has the hackle color too. so sad. ahhhh.
Ive learned so much and trust me next year i will order some pairs of a specific color and make sure the breeder fallows the standards. I want to Breed for fun mostly and my familys survival. But if your going to do something you might as well do it right. RIGHT>
