One more question did you put anything in the pond for a step or a ramp of some type for them to get out.

Yeah, all we did was stack a few good sized rocks on one of the ledges, to make a couple step-like things to climb out. Nothing fancy. Looking back, I bet bricks would probably work even better.

Now, as full grown adults, they don't need it at all, but I think as young ducks, they probably appreciated the assistance getting out!
