You know, I never thought about cream. Will have to get better pictures of them and post to Pete and see what he says. They are blue and aren't lilac so I figured they had to be lavender. Hhmmm

Kim looks like some dilute mutation.
"Powder Blue" is a nickname not a true genetic color.
Ya know like "Lavender Ice"
People come up with nicknames for dilutes and it becomes very confusing.
What color are the parents?

yea -- this baby is very different color than Nugget. Best guess on the parents would be Blue splash gander x grey saddleback goose. I think that combo can produce lavender -- hopefully a few more feathers will give a better indication. I did find a good pic of them side by side. BBN wing feathers are much darker but still lighter than the greys.She looks blue in person and this kid looks...well...sort of dove grey

I've had some saddlebacks with atypical markings and that might be what yours is and very cool looking to boot!
Too bad Nugget turned out to be a smooth but you can still get some awesome curly babies out of her.

BBN was a very late hatchling and only 7 weeks old. I want to pair her with this little man, so I'm TOTALLY ok if she is smoothbreasted. He developed most of his curls much later, so time will tell how much curl she will have. I'm guessing his chest curl will fill in, but its cute the way it wraps around and just ripples in the middle! He's split for buff so I'm PSYCHED!!

Have you looked into that mystery one being one of those colors like you see in Cotton Patch? I can't remember what they call it, but I got a crazy shade of blue last year from what we think was a cotton patch x american blue, or could have been pure cotton patch.

His mom is buff saddleback smoothbreast and dad is curly white gander. Both were bred by Dave H. From what I've read (and hatched) that should produce the grey saddleback boys (carrying buff) and white girls. That breeding produced an equally pretty white sister and a nice smoothbreasted grey saddleback brother. Remarkably all of them have more refined sebbie "type" as opposed to a lot of the larger birds. So his curls are just icing on the beautiful cake!

Oddly, he was a HOMELY looking gosling with a really rough head and neck. Thank goodness he grew out of that awkward stage.

Amy -- good luck with your guy. I hope he will be really curly for you!

A lot of goslings go through a geeky stage but they really seem to pop around 6 months old
then again around a year old as they continue to fill out and mature.
Even as 2 years olds you look and think...wow...lookin' better!
My 2011 Patty Zimmerman goose (Res. GCH at Crossroads last year) is really starting to blossom.
To be honest I didn't think she was that impressive last year even though she went GCH but now she's
maturing and looking good!
There is so much fun and anticipation watching them grow and come into their own.
