is this chick a frizzle?

Mr.Ree I do understand what you were saying as it is often best to breed a smooth"frizzle" to a frizzle. :)

if you want to talk percentages: my parents have one frizzled cock covering different hens none on which carry the frizzle gene in any shape or form. i hatched about 30+ eggs and got all frizzled but maybe 10. now what are the odds of that lol little game mixes, sebright mixes, and light brahma mixes

I found this article to be most useful..In particular the bold at the end.
http://www.polishbreedersclub.com/frizzling.htm Is it not an incomplete dominant gene?

This article says everything we've been telling the OP to do. We could go into a very detailed genetic discussion about modifier genes and interacting masking genes which will eventually years down the road yeild smooth birds that occasionally throw frizzles (I certainly find them interesting), but they aren't relevant here since we aren't talking about a professional frizzle breeding program, and I honestly think it would just confused the OP.

He/she wants to know how to get frizzle out of non-frizzle chicks. We told him/her to breed a frizzle to them because it would produce 50% frizzles. This article also states the exact same thing.

Sorry I wasn't trying to confuse but offer an external link I found helpful when I wanted to learn more.

Oh, I misunderstood the reason for the post then, sorry about that. It was a very interesting read, I quite enjoyed it! I'm actually inspired to hang out in the breeds forum and pick the brains of the genetics experts there. The mention of the autosomal recessive modifier7 is facinating to me, and if I understand correctly, is the reason for the incomplete dominant expression to varying degrees. The article doesn't mention what that recessive gene is, or how it would enter the bird's line.

Like I said, I find this stuff really facinating!
