I remember (there's probably a better way) we used a warm washcloth and tried to soften the membrane before cracking the shell and taking the chick out.

Do you think that it’s had enough time to absorb the yolk? It’s been almost 24 hours.

So how would I go about helping it?

Take a pair of tweezers and gently break off pieces of the shell.

I have some but I’m afraid to completely remove it from the shell because I don’t know how long it takes for it to absorb the yolk.

And also is it normal for it to look almost bloody on the shell in some places?

So it is definitely dried out around it and it’s acting like it’s stuck.

she/he might. I had a chick, that looks EXACTLY where yours was. She died before we could peel her/him out (it was confirmed, cause we peeled the whole shell). If you do help him/her, be careful. And use Tweezers, if you try to peel it too hard. You might Pop a Blood vessel, or somehow. Hurt the chick

If there is fresh red blood coming out then you should stop but if it is just red smears on the shell then that is normal. Usually the yolk is absorbed in less than 24 hours. I would crack the shell all the way around and then see if the chick has the strength to push out. Try not to tear the membrane any more than you have to. But if you can see that the chick is shrink wrapped then you may have to moisten the membrane with a warm wet cloth and gently push the membrane away from the head.
