Is this color of train normal?

I have had my Midnight "White-eye" male for a year and a half now. And I have been noticing that his train is getting more purple is this normal? He is three years old. Is there any way he hasa diffrent color mutation?

That is one good lookin bird!!! And he is split to white/pied also, not sure what colour he is but

maybe violet

Hi C&Rman,
Can you please send me the close up photoes of train feathers of both midnight peacock and normal peacock, so I will notice the diffenence in colours & pattens between midnight peacock and normal peacock.

5 year old barred wing midnight split to bronze. Photo taken late summer as purple/violent hue fades a bit as the season wears on. Most colorful in winter when new train is growing in. Lighting plays a role in intensity.

Ok great! I wasn't complaining at all I love the purple. He is so pretty when the sun shines on him. But one thing conserns me, as you can see in the picture it looks like he has some sort of dandruff on his neck feathers is that normal, is he just molting?

I would be more then happy to send you some close up's of his train. But I cannot send you one of a normal IB peacocks, because he is my only adult male peacock that I have.

His color is quite brilliant. He is very nice.
I would check him for lice or mites. I see the areas you described.
Sometimes with molt they can have areas like that. Most peafowl have went through molt and are growing new. And his new feathers in that area could still be coming in. But I would check him to be sure.

You can dust them with poultry or Sevin dust, or you can apply liquid Ivomectrian to the skin behind the neck. About 1/2 to 1cc on adult peafowl.

And i think he has them! I got as close to him as i could and I saw some little white dandruff things, I think they are lice. Can they lice survive in tempatures below 10-15 degrees F at night? Also my BS peahen is bleeding on the top of her are my other birds pecking her feathers on the top of her head?
