Is this Delaware really a hen?

Mostly I'm preparing for that stage so that he knows my boundaries BEFORE he hits it.

Hope you have the same luck I've had with my own guy. Here's my own Isaac meeting the daughter of a dear friend for the first time a couple of years ago. Yep, first time he'd laid eyes on her and this is how he reacted:

And the youtube for you, LOL.

Yeah, he's a marshmallow, but he sure protects his girls against his sons and anything else around here, other than us, of course. He was not handled as a youngster much at all, but his line was bred for temperament and it shows with him and almost all his sons. Hope your guy ends up as much of a joy as Isaac has been all these years.

Me too, he used to be really pushy when it came to any food/treats but now when I bring out treats he will wait back while the ladies get first dibs and he even waits for them to get the first taste of their fermented feeds in the morning. I don't mind him avoiding me, I have no problem with letting him be a rooster as long as we are able to go in the coop and retrieve eggs/clean and as long as I can pick up the girls without him charging or pecking at me, in case I ever need to look them over for something.

Exactly. I always say my roosters don't have to be cuddly, they just must have the intelligence to not bite (or flog) the hand that feeds them.

Mr. Handsome ready for his close up.

Him and his side kick. My smallest but meanest hen.

Pretty tail feathers.

Just thought I would give an update on Mr. Odin. He will be 18 weeks this weekend and he is a good boy so far, he will occasionally give my shoe a weird look or my shorts if I come out in baggy/loose shorts but I just stand my ground and when he moves I trail him slowly for a second. I occasionally scoop him up or if he acts even a little snotty I'll pin him until he calms down but I've only pinned him twice and scooping him up and carrying him under my arm doesn't even seem to bother him anymore (plus I just do it to be proactive). He is starting to mate and started crowing a week or so ago!
