My chicks are about 9 weeks old. I had a couple of ones that were roos, but I thought this one was a girl. She(he?) is much bigger than the others. I thought she or he was just developing faster. However, I am starting to think she ..just might be a "he". She/he has started getting shiney curved feathers in the back. They are black but shine green almost like a Cayuga duck. It also has a bighter red comb. However, it has no saddle feathers. What do you think..boy, or girl?

This one shows the tail that has me wondering if it is a boy

This one is a girl one and shows her in the front for comparison

On this one, the roo/hen in question is to the 2nd black and white to the right.

Thanks koosie and gvntofly05. All the others that were boys started getting saddle feathers. I could tell the others were boys from a day old. This one was a bit of a surprise. Do some roos just take longer to get them?

I guess the vote is roo. Npw, I guess I have to think about if I will keep him or not. He has nice ear tuffs for an EE, but no beard and he has yellow legs. I am not sure I want to pass that on. I might want to see if he is a gentle bird when he gets older. For a roo, I think that is an important thing to pass on.

Yes, it looks like a roo. My EE roo is the nicest boy

, he's good with the ladies and is a benevolent ruler of 3 other roos, including his own son (who is just as nice as his dad).

Woooowwww. He is nice! If mine turns out like anything like that, I will be overjoyed. I love those tail feathers.
