Is this hen a Dominique or Barred Rock? added another pic

Here is the post about how much we adore this bird https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=64887

and
some pictures of her if that will help
June342.jpg

let me get one of where she is actually standing and not being carried

I really hope it is a hen- I just do not want to upset my neighbors with crowing is all

Thanks for the pictures, that is helpful, she does have a large comb and facial red for a girl, maybe she is just older? The lady told me she was one, but then again, she also told me she was a she:D
But her tail is not near as pretty as your rooster's tail
I will cross my fingers for no crowing hen- she is just so sweet and docile and calm and nice - and yeah- did I mention we really like this bird?
Thank you again for the help

Take another look at that comb, its definately a dominique.
Barred Rocks have single combs.
Lack of longer tail feathers and dark coloration point to it being a hen.

That's really strange, she has the body of a female, and the facial features of a male..Did the women you got her from have any roosters? Some hens will "turn into" roosters if there is a lack of one.

No that's a dominique, deffiently not a barred rock. Look at his comb, domiques have rose combs and barred rocks have single combs..

And her legs are still yellow, so she can't be that old.

Yeah, she had a very outspoken, rooster rooster and not a terribly large flock.
I know with my ducks, the girls start off with smaller facial features, but then even old hens ( with ducks I am saying) get really red in the face and fuller features- do chickens age this way too maybe?
Are there any ways to age a chicken once it is full grown?
