Can anyone confirm if this is lice and/or mites? I've only seen Google images of them so I only kinda know what I'm looking for. I had 2 hens die a few months back from unknown reasons and I now think that it may have been from lice and /or mites.

A few of my hens have bald spots on their back side I assumed it was from our rooster but now our rooster is starting to loose feathers on his back as well.

If it is lice and/or mites how to I treat it? And are both lice and mites treated for in the same way or do I need a separate treatment for each?

I will have to back out in the morning to get pictures of the base of the feathers. Dander would be good a lot better than lice! Would lice be at the base of the feathers or is that usually only mites?
both would to my knowledge.. both either eat skin, blood, or dander, eggs would be clustered at the base of the feathers.

Okay here are a few pictures. Let me know if I need to take more. The second from the last picture and it is the rooster who looks like he has scabs near where he is bare on his back side.
