when he looses a feather it grows in a darker buff color edged in a lighter color. He is very small and cute. He has slate colored legs and feet. Nice personality and quite a ham. He is the smallest of all my bantams.
I thought he might be a Buff laced sebright. If I were to breed him what color hens would i need to fix this incomplete lacing? He is a little cutie and the nicest little personality too. I never had a sebright before. They are darling! Are they cold hardy?
Couldn't answer the cold hardiness- southern Calif here....
Buff laced is gold laced with dominant white added. Dominant white has a strong effect on blocking black pigment but not so much on red/gold pigment.... result is the black laces being turned to white with the gold center largely unaffected.
You could fix the lacing by either breeding with good buffs or good gold laceds.
Good lacing requires the bird being pure for several independent genes.. this bird seems to be either missing one or is not pure for at least one or two.
