Hey everyone
I recently got a baby duck, a friend of mine found it in his yard and asked if I could raise it (probably because I already have rabbits and chickens). Ive had him for about a week now and we’ve named him Willy. Anyways I was wondering if y’all could help me figure the breed. Here are some pictures
Thanks!

That is neither a mallard nor a wood duck. What state are you in? Just trying to come up with what other birds are in your are to see what it could be.

I think it may be a black bellied whistling duck. You should try to get him to a wildlife rehabber. It's technically illegal to own any native species taken from the wild. Plus, they may be able to get him raised up and released into the wild again, where he belongs :)

Yep, South Texas is right in the breeding and year-round range of the black bellied whistling duck. Betting that that's what Willy is.
