Is this normal behavior for integrating a roo into a flock?

We got the rooster about a week ago and have been using the see but no touch method. We finally let him in with the girls today and welllll they all jumped him pretty bad. I was going to post a video but I cannot on this website. Anyways they all pretty much attacked him and then left him alone after jumping him for about 15 minutes.

It can happen especially if he is a cockerel or young/inexperienced rooster. You may want to put him back in his pen and introduce the hens to him there one at a time over a period of time (days or even weeks) so that he is not outnumbered.

He must have been young--that's not normal behavior for hens. Also, they might have sensed something about him that's not healthy? I hope he's doing better now, poor little guy.
