Is this normal post hatch??

I have used a melon box. It works great.

You can move them to the brooder early, but just put the chick under the heating plate to finish drying.
I put them under the heating plate and they're both quiet and content. My loud chick is still loud. 🤷‍♀️ Hopefully once they fluff up she'll go meet them. She barely goes under the heat plate, which seems odd. If she's cold wouldn't she go back under?? This is stressing me out. Lol

I don't think she's cold as I do have the big heating plate in there and she goes under it to warm up. Plus I think I could do hot yoga in this room, with the combination of the incubator running, the heating plate and the sun shining in, it's really warm in here. She cheeps loudly every time she hears the chicks in the incubator. Do people normally leave them in there until they're actually dry and fluffy? Because the humidity is high and it seems to be taking a long time...
I have a couple of coolers that Omaha Steaks came in that I use as dry boxes for the chicks. I use a 15 watt incandescent bulb as a heat source. Keeps them warm without cooking them and they dry out. These are Rhode Island White chicks drying. Some are already getting quite fluffy.

I'm still thinking she's imprinted on you.

You can always help them dry with a hair blow dryer set on low. I sometimes blow dry my birds after I have bathed them getting them ready for a show.

Older chicks will do that. it's just a pecking instinct. I put some crumbles in the bottom of my brooder and then the chicks will peck at the crumbles.
