Older chicks will do that. it's just a pecking instinct. I put some crumbles in the bottom of my brooder and then the chicks will peck at the crumbles.

I do have food on the bottom too. But she still was pecking their feet and then their eyes. I was worried she'd really hurt them with that one.

Move the one doing the pecking for a couple of days then reintroduce. It is something recently hatched chicks will do. Mainly the first ones that hatch out but they will stop the behavior in a few days. At least mine have. Good luck...

Update: I had 15 healthy chicks hatch! And here's the new and improved brooder my husband built today! They have a seedling heating mat in one corner and the heating plate in the other. And for the most part they seem to prefer the much much less expensive heat pad to the heating plate they can go under. I ended up with 5 lavender orps, 3 black chicks, 5 yellow and 2 adorable brown ones with stripes.
