Is this offensive?

He is being ridiculous and lame. Don't you just hate it when people get offended over stupid shizzle? Fo Real! (lol - I may have just offended someone myself)

I have noticed that on Facebook a lot of my friends will argue over politics and religion, and sports. Granted we aren't teenagers, but usually I sit back and watch, and do not participate (unless someone is dissing my Cubs!

) But my friend Ed is a die hard Republican. He is deeply involved in politics and he does have a habit of trying to recruit people. Let me just say, I don't share the majority of his beliefs, but I had to stick up for him one day when he posted some video up, I don't even remember now what exactly it was, only that it had a goat in it, and the goat was doing something negative in reference to Democrats. Ok, I figure, to each their own. I was not offended, but his wall literally exploded within minutes, and in less than an hour there were more than 50 posts, and the good majority of them were from his mother because his abnormally sensitive younger sister had been offended by the video, but instead of telling him she was offended, she went off to sulk and decided to cut him off completely, no e-mails, no phone calls, she even deleted him as a friend on Facebook! All over a silly video! So he was dumbfounded over his sister's reaction, and asked his mother why, and SHE tore into him, on FACEBOOK! Again, it's all over a video that just poked fun at Democrats!!! I did not watch the video, I don't care about it, never did, but I was just so shocked at how all those different people reacted. It was not just his mother. I did not ask him if he has yet mended relations with his sister. She's a little off to start with, but I'm hoping that she would have cooled off by now, it's been months. But it's a testament to the fact that some people do overreact, though to varying levels, to other people's opinions. Ed has since been very cautious about his postings, and they've been much less political in nature. Not that he isn't still trying to recruit people. I get frequent requests to join one Republican group or another. Guess I shouldn't tell him I voted for Obama? Lol. I refuse to bring up politics or religion because in my experience, it makes enemies out of friends, but over music preferences? Your friend did overreact. Ok, if you have a lot of highly religious friends on FB, then perhaps that last line about slapping the HM fans was a bit much. Personally, I would have seen the humor in the post and I would have laughed over it. If you posted it on your own page, you have every right to speak about what music you like. Don't sweat it. If your friend continues to act offended, tell him you weren't aiming at anyone else but were speaking about what music YOU like. Then tell him to pull the pacifier out of his mouth and grow up.

chicken, china moma, If Ed tries to recruit people to his cause on face book, he might be very, very pushy in real life. Perhaps the silly video was only the last straw for the mother and sister. They might have over reacted to the video because of his previous behavior.

He might even be right in his political views but if he is a jerk about his opinions, he will alienate a lot of people.

Besides, if he is overly opinionated his mom might be also. Combine two stubborn people with the emotions that come with being closely related and of course you are going to have occasional problems. I bet that they eventually work it out and will find another subject to argue with one another.

WOW! That really is overreaction. I am FULLY aware of conflicts over religion and politics. I just got over a HUGE fight on facebook with Justino [yes Justino from BYC] and a few of his friends over religion [along with homosexuality several times and abortion] and some VERY hurtful things were said from both sides [cussing, name calling, threats] and it really threw me for a loop. It all better now, I guess, but it was pretty bad. BUT, that was over Religion, which is something that I, as a Christian, take very, very seriously.
But I am starting to realize this thing over MUSIC with the guy from church is absolutely ridiculous. If he mentions it at church, I'll tell him to pull the pacifier out of his mouth and GROW UP. Thanks!

LOL I haven't given heard anything of their for a couple years, back when I ONLY listened to country and pop. I like Metallica, so I suppose I would like Korn....I'll have to give em' a shot.
But I GUARANTEE I don't like Marilyn Manson, no offense to anyone :p, but he's way too Anti-God for me. He does look pretty hot though, no offense.

Are you Boyd???? LOL! I never saw your fight with him, but I saw Boyd's. YIKES!

Tell your friend you are terribly sorry, it must be horrible being so sensative. What you posted is not offensive, it is a joke. He is offended by humor. IT must be hard living like that. What would you do with your saturday mornings?
