Is this really a silver laced wyandotte?

Unfortunately EEs are not so easy to categorize. There is no breed standard for EEs, so hatcheries can do whatever they see fit to the birds genetically. Generally, EEs have green legs, a muff, lay blue/green eggs, and have a pea comb. Now: mix, match, shake up, substitute, and slurry any and all other chicken traits with the ones I listed, and you can STILL have an EE.

For example: A muffless bird with green legs and a pea comb is still an EE. A muffed bird with a straight comb, no green legs, and lays blue eggs is still an EE. The combos are endless. The only point where you can stop calling them EE is where they have none of the first features I mentioned. THen you just have a very confusing barnyard cross.

I hope that helps clear it up a bit. EEs are complicated!

Looks JUST like my Welsummer chicks! And, although it's little, that's a single comb. Just my thoughts...I've got SLW's, too, but I think you'll like the Welsummer

As many have stated, there is no way that that is a SLW...

The little black ones are SLW's

A pic taken about 6 weeks after the first!! They mature so much!!!

looks like out 2 EE's did at that age. we bought a SLW also, and she's turned out to be some sort of BR mix, but she's sweet and we love her anyway!

Looks just like my brown leghorns...sorry. They are excellent layers though! If it is a leghorn you'll be able to tell within a couple weeks.

Cute, cute, cute chick photo!!

I'll have to get another picture of him and post it soon. My friend and I went in on 15 chicks together. I had all of them for the first 9 days while she was on vacation. She took the mystery chick to her house when she got back since all of her chicks were closer to her/his age. Her whole family thinks it has a different chirp than the others. Maybe a sign? I have the older and younger ones in two different brooders here. Hopefully I will be able to reintroduce her/him to the others when they all get a little closer in size. This has gotten to be quite the adventure not knowing what breed or sex some of them are. I've learned I have little patience and want to know now!! lol. It's so hard to get attached knowing it may have to go to the farm if it's a roo

I've also learned we bought way to many different ages.

Edited to add: It's getting very lanky. Much more so than any of the other chicks.

Looks just like my Brown Leghorn. Wyandottes can have that comb but it is incorrect. Sorry. SLW would be black with the chicpmonk pattern on its back.

Sorry, I didn't get a chance to read all the posts, so if someone's said/mentioned/refuted/agreed with this, then I have no idea and I apologize in advance.

They look just like my two EE pullets when they were babies. Seriously, it's like I'm looking at Willow and Eyryss' baby pictures. It's a little creepy.
