Is this rumour true

is the rumour that loud noise can echo through an egg and kill a developing embryo true ??? My boyfriend just played his drums in my incubating room and read this rumour now I am very worried
I highly doubt it. Eggs in nature are incubated everywhere. That includes along the sides of busy highways, or in areas prone to thunderstorms. Loud noises do happen, yet hatch rates likely don't suffer.

I have even incubated several batches of eggs inside. We are a noisy family, huge loud noises happen often. My eggs hatched just fine. Heck, I even kicked the incubator a few times by accident. Shook the eggs a bit but nothing bad happened.

A rumor is just that. A rumor. Unless it can be backed up by scientic FACTS, it can not be trusted.

Well, I guess it depends on the level of drumming, but my 12 year old has made my glass of water jounce and jiggle and spill. Developing blood vessels are delicate things.
Who knows? Maybe they will all hatch, and the chicks will crave heavy metal...
The funny thing about scientific fact. Scientists just re-discovered a species of giant bee. The funny thing is, it was never lost, and even before some scientist discovered it the first time... the local people always knew about them. Just funny how something that has always existed, does't exist in some peoples eyes until some one in a white lab coat "discovers" it a few times.

Not sure it could "shred developing vessels"....
....but frequent vibration could possibly screw things up.
Possible, but maybe not probable.

@Vhope77 let us know how your 'drummed babies' progress.
What is your hatching experience?
Many things can go wrong with an incubation,
so don't be to quick to jump to conclusions if things go awry.

No idea how accurate it is, but the late Anne McCaffrey put a lot of research from expert in various fields into her novels. In one of the early novels in the Pern timeline, when geneticist Kitti Ping was working with genetic material from native lifeforms and had embryos developing it was very important to protect them from the seismic tremors. The incubators she used had some sort of protection as i recall the scientist working in her laboratory rushing to check the developing embryos to see if any had been damaged by the shockwaves. I imagine there is some truth to it, but I wouldn't overly worry.

May I ask, I'm simply curious...
1) Your boyfriend played his drums in your incubating room?
OR did you put your incubator in his drum room? :)
(Difficult to imagine someone moving their drumset to drum)

2) What type of incubator are you using? If it is an insulated incubator, such as a styrofoam incubator, the eggs should be protected inside. Even a plastic incubator should block the transfer of the sound waves effectively enough to prevent damage the developing embryo.

3) Air does not transfer the sound energy as effectively as other mediums, such as water.

I've never heard of a woman being told not to attend loud movies or heavy metal rock concerts to protect her developing fetus unless someone else has? The fetus would have less protection than an egg in an incubator, I'd think.
