Don't wanna rain on your parade mysunwolf, but I don't really see any signs of scaly leg mites. And I did the vaseline thing. And I always forget that everything will be covered in vaseline until the next morning when I want to check for eggs. Trying to open a door, door slips out of my hands. Grmbl.![]()
Hehehehe, this exact thing happened to me when I was trying to clean the coop today--I usually lean on the roosts for support, and today I plopped my hand on one and got a sticky mess. It's ridiculous.
I only assumed it was scaly leg mites because one of the girls (the middle pic of black feathers and slate legs) had perfectly smooth pullet legs when I bought her a few months ago, and judt recently the place where her toes join her leg became scaly, raised, dull (instead of shiny), rough. I thought that was cause enough to do the whole flock of 8, even though only 4 of the hens showed any raised scales at all... figured better safe than sorry. My Faverolles has it the worst, but I couldn't get a picture of her legs

I really would love more pictures of moderate scaly leg, can't seem to find many and that makes it hard to actually know one way or the other.
