Hello Fellow members!
In the last week my white leghorn Zazzles has lost a lot of feathers and has stopped laying. Now her friend the exbattery Babs has started to loose feathers aswell, has stopped laying eggs and has a very red stomach. We have fairly recently introduced two new chickens (Peggy and Selma) but they have not showed any symptoms till now.
Backstory for the chickens
Zazzles is a white leghorn who is a few weeks over a year old. We have had her since a day old chick and have never had any problems. She regularly lays big white eggs and loves dust baths. All the chickens have been vaccinated against Mareks etc.
Babs is an exbattery we got in early august last year, six months ago she was bit by a fox (around the same area as the redness) we decided that if she survived the night we would take her to a vet. We were very unsure if she would because she was panting and looked like she was fighting for life. She fought back and is still here now. She is over two years old to we don't know to what extent because she is an exbattery hen. A few months after the fox attack she started limping badly and it took her a few months to regain full health. We thought it was either arthiritus flared up due to the injuries or just something she would have to live with from now because the fox broke a few of her toes etc.
The two new introductions are a appenzeller Spitzhauben and a lavender araucana. They are from the same place we got all our other chickens and are a trusted keeper. They are not ill and are around point of lay but haven't layer yet.
As for other symptoms, there aren't any really, they're still greedy and are acting normal.
they have just been through their routine every six months worming and will be dusted tonight. After the feather loss we have added ACV to their water.
I would like to know if this is their moults and just were cocindientally at the same time and not something else as I am a novice.
