Is this true

Funny thing is the other people that don't think you need a roo for eggs think that you can not eat fertilized eggs!

People don't always think before they ask. I get asked that question when people learn I have chickens. I guess sometimes people ask before brain processes it. Just like when people walk up to me and ask if my dog is a seeing eye dog as I am getting out of the car. Um hello if I were blind I wouldn't be driving a car

drives me mad the other day I got asked,

So you have chickens and a rooster ?
And I told them that chicken is the species and hen and rooster are the gender.

And they looked like at me like deer looking into headlights.

and asked the same question again.

let me ask this?.... does the roo have to be the same breed as the hens or does it not matter? we have a RID roo & barred rocks in the same coop.

Thats so funny! I get asked about the egg and rooster thing alot sometimes I think " I hope I am
right about this, why would I be the only one to know this?" So I get back online to BYC and make
sure!!

When we got chickens, my brother sheepishly asked if the roosters lay eggs. Then, my sister asked if the chicks were allowed to nurse or if they were immediately taken away from their mamas like heifers

My NIL (nephew in law), age 33, asked how the rooster gets the sperm inside those hard shells! I rolled on the floor.

I shudder when I think of some of the dumb questions I asked and still ask about my chickens. It's funny & all, but if some one asks me a silly question, I try to be polite. Then when the person is gone I
