I’m pretty sure it’s a copper Maran. I know it’s a little boy because he is crowing. Just wondering. Because he is beautiful.

I believe you are correct that he is a Black Copper Marans
Thank you. I was really figuring that. His “mama” went broody and she is a copper maran and his father I’m pretty sure was the copper maran in the farm that roams around. His sisters tho are copper maran and a couple are barred rocks. They even have some red in them too so they are full, but it’s kinda cool to see some red on their feathers. I don’t think their mama was the maran. I think she just went broody and took care of them.

He could also be a marans cross. It is very difficult to say if this was just a random barnyard mating it sounds like it is and you cannot be sure of the sire or his genetic background.
This bird certainly displays some Marans features (white skin and leg feathering) but he has a lot of feather and colour development and body shape to mature before you could be sure and even then there may be some rogue genes in there that just don't express themselves until the next generation.
Will you post photos on this thread as he matures to show his progression. It will be interesting to follow his progress.
