Good morning, is the duckling still peeping strong? and congrats on the rest starting to hatch ..I've been thinking about your lil one all night and was hoping for good news this morning. Thanks! I had read the thread but not all the hatching part- I was just reading bc of the awkwardness that came of it, lol. Well but now I feel horrible for panicking and opening that egg. I was just like Teloka, worried he couldn't breathe thru the membrane and then worried bc I could see something stuck over the egg tooth. Oh well, we will see. Hopefully I've not doomed the baby.
So your an old pro at hatching,Oh absolutely not! I don't think you're harsh. Last hatch I only had three and they all hatched within a few hours of one another. These not so much.
I did do SOME chores.. Went out to let the chickens out, fed Pony Boy, and scoped out Mama Mallard's new digs. She's not in the best location but is at least in the pasture. She started sitting day before yesterday, I dint hang around long enough to count her eggs but she definitely didn't overflow it like she dis with these. Maybe ten I'm thinking?
And, I'm about to go collect my fourth Pekin egg as I saw she was on her nest when I was out. Lucky girl has TWO drakes-in-waiting while she goes to lay, LOL! also, two little SQUEALING (friends') girls found a stray mallard egg yesterday while playing with the metal detector. It wa hysterical, like they thought the Easter bunny had come early. So I threw it in storage with my Pekin eggs as well.![]()
Miss Lydia, he is replying to the othe eggs when they peep. He is LOUD! He would call out during the night and I would think someone had hatched, lol. It looks like he's starting to change position some too so I'm feeling okay. Thanks for checking!
So your an old pro at hatching, and glad to hear the lil one is still making progress.
