Haahaa, chickens are so funny! My girls have 'favorite box of the week'. They'll all completely ignore all other boxes and laying in ONLY one. Then with some unknown signal, they all switch to another. It makes collecting easy.

I have 3 boxes, 2 regularly get used but it changes round as to which is the favourite. The third is used by Errol the rooster for sleeping so I guess it's too messy for anyone wanting to lay...

Too funny !!! My girls do the same, just never got a picture of them! I have 8 hens, and my hubby built an awesome coop with 8 nest boxes, & run for them.My Speckled Sussex,(Speck) has become broody lately, (no Roo's), but the other girls insist on laying in the one box with Speck. Guess they figure Speck will sit on them while they go out free ranging!!! Gotta love them!

I am kind of gonna hijack the thread here. Yesterday I give a quick look into the coop and 4 girls are in 4 different boxes.So I leave as not to disturb them in their work. About an hour later there is one hen still in the box she was in from before, there were no eggs in any of the boxes and there were 5 under her. What happened in that hour? Did she steal the eggs from the other boxes? Sort of hard to do the way my boxes are. Did the others lay on top of her? She is one of the Boss ladies and don't think she would give an inch. I have to get a surveillance camera to see what the heck goes on.
