The job numbers showed the private sector added 84,000 new jobs and the public sector lost 4,000 jobs for a net gain of 80,000 jobs.
But what was lost in all the numbers was that Social Security Disability added 85,000 new people.
Sense 2009 Jobs have grown at a 2% rate and Social Security Disability has grown at a 15% rate.

How long can this go on ?

If the truly disabled and old people were not needing SS I would not care if it ended tomorrow.

Disabled has a very confusing definition.

I can waste my youth on drugs and alcohol and get SSI when I get older as a disabled person.

Mental disabilities are more successfully rewarded with SSI

It's not easier to get. I have a disability that is on SSI's list of once it's proofed, i.e a doctor or two. You are suppose to be automatic approved. Two judges later I am still being told because I can brush my own teeth and I have a cell phone I cannot get my SSI disability. But also whats bad their own specialist that was at the hearing said there was no job I could hold down.

And FYI: I have worked since I was sixteen up until I became disabled. Mine is inner ear problem that I have in both ears. I went through therapy to learn to walk straight and retrain my eyes. I also now get dizzy just about every time it rains.

I agree but SSI and SSD are different SSI doesn't seem to report their numbers every month or I haven't found them yet. I'm not a computer guy I'm a builder.

I agree it's gotten ridiculous.

I personally am considered disabled. Every doctor I see has advised me to apply for disability. However, in my own opinion, I am not disabled. I can and do still work. I'm limited in what I can do, but on a good day I can still work a man half my age into the ground, on a bad day I'm worthless and I know it. The fact remains, I can and do work and support my family and although I can't work a 9 to 5 job, I'm lucky enough to be able to set my own hours pretty much and know when it's time to take a break or just call it a day. I am a man and as long as I can get up and go, I intend on working for my living. I get nothing from the system and ask for nothing.

My ex on the other hand is disabled. Severely. She can hardly walk, can't drive, can't breathe, has so many problems. COPD and emphysema, Chronic degenerative disc disease, some mental issues, several other problems. Some I can't even spell or pronounce. She applied for disability over four years ago, keeps getting turned down. Makes me so mad I could chew nails and spit a barbed wire fence. She can't work at all. No way. No income and no way to get any. I spend over $300 a month just to keep her in medicine, plus I pay all her doctor's bills, utilities, and other expenses. I'm not complaining about paying it, just that all her life she paid in to the system like everyone else, then when she gets down and needs help.... nothing.

I know several people who applied and got approved in just a few months when they are healthy as a horse, just lazy.

I'm shutting up now. This is a sore spot with me and I'll just say more than I should.

Yep,..thats how it works.. when you REALLY need it, you cant get it. But the ones that are milking it can get it. Go figure..
Tell her to keep fighting... they will probably give it to her eventually..
