Isaac, My 5 Year Old Delaware Rooster....Old Age is Closing In On The Big Guy (Long Story)

I think you are just to get a bit of snow and cold. Me on the other hand am in for the freezing rain bit. Yuck, there is not much in weather except hurricanes that does as much damage. Good luck with the eggs.

It's snowing now, GJ. Small flakes. Let Isaac see it. He's not into snow at all. If the weather would clear up, we could get busy on dividing the pen so Ike could go back when the temps regulate somewhat.

We are getting freezing rain.

Thats much worse than snow. I hope this quits and thr snow comes.

I hate ice! We're probably going to get 3" of snow accumulation. It's an inch and not slowing down at all. Three more days of this mess and it looks like winter will be back to our normal winter weather, better temps. Friday or Saturday, we're getting fencing, posts and other supplies to get the coop ready for Isaac's return. Deacon won't be happy, but he's still afraid of Isaac, which is a good thing.

I probably sound crazy but I dearly love to build things. If I had my way every penny would probably go on post fence, wire and wood.

I want to make my runs back of my mtn home about 5 times larger; they have lots of room now; but I want them all the way across the hill behind my home. It would take a fortune. Maybe a little at a time. I will save a bit at a time and buy supplies until I have enough to do 50 ft. more each year. I have covered runs for now but the new ones may not be since its woods there. It will be their free range area along with the 50 feet I already have.

Hahaha, me, too! I love when we start a new building. What I don't love is getting the supplies here. Wish we could just have them all delivered, then get started. Guess we could, really.

I get my railroad ties for post delivered but the wood and wire I get stuck into my Honda CRV. Ha! I bet you did not know that 8 ft 2x4s would fit in there. I can put a lot into that little car. I love the thing and its all wheel drive too. I have had it sitting light in the front a couple of times. Shame on me but I didn't want to make two trips.

.
I put a red heat light over my water bucket here for the hens. I may not be able to get out there early enough to break the ice for them tomorrow am. Its further to the coop here than at my new coop in the mtns. Its going to be unusually cold and although I do not usually put heat there, they do need water.

There is a roll of 2x4 wire setting in the yard right now. My hb has arthritis really bad in his ankles and flat feet. He has not hired the work done even when we could. I have a problem yet to be named the Dr. thinks it is some kind of heart arrhythmia. I hope we find it soon. He ordered the monitor last Tues and I am to get it by mail. Its a special event monitor I will wear for a month. I sure hope it comes or this mess stops. I have a life to live here.!!!! Medicine is not like it use to be. 20 yrs ago I would have been in the hospital being on a monitor for care. No more. We could die before diagnosis.
My hens are doing well and that brings me joy. My family brings me joy and worry bless them. I feel like I want to cry out, I WANT TO GO HOME. I miss my mtns sooooo much.
