Isaac, My 5 Year Old Delaware Rooster....Old Age is Closing In On The Big Guy (Long Story)

Hope you feel better. When I broke my ankle and with the subsequent surgery, being in bed for literally months was torture. I am not someone who sits my life away. And neither are YOU! Hope you feel better and can come back home soon. This is where your heart is, like mine.

Thank you! He's doing well, though he's stuck in the basement until the next couple of days are over. He still won't be able to get back to the coop until we get the ramp and new pop door built on Rex's side and the divider fence up, but he may be able to run around in the yard since temps will be in the 50's Friday and Saturday with sunshine.

We had 3" and it was 3* this morning. Poor Isaac is stuck in the basement for another day at least, then maybe he can go outside. Can't go back to the coop until we get the pen stuff done so Rex can't get to him.

Well, we iced over.

Its been two days now. The roads are horrible and we have not gotten out except to water and feed my flock. They will not come out of the coop. Thankfully we do have power. Its a mess around here. There are no snow-ice scrappers for the roads and no sand -salt mix. The south is not at all prepared for this kind of weather. We are suppose to warm some today but who knows. I want March to come so I can go back to my cove in the mtns. Snow there is ok. Ice here is not.

The South had some lollopalooza (sp?) ice storms when I was a kid. Those are the worst. There is no defense for them. We just got snow here, thankfully, but the aftermath of it, the mud, is why I HATE snow.

I like your spelling and yes we use the word too. It is misting right now on top of a very slick sleet on the ground and the temp is 32. It will all refreeze. My BR walked with me to the coop and I sure was glad. I would have kissed the ground a couple of times if not for his arm. I got 9 eggs from my 18 hens.
I do not have my cut stick with me from the mtns. It is about 6 ft, tall with a pointed end. I really use it in slick conditions. I will be careful. You be careful too.
