So if I even come close to understanding genetics...the Isabel is a dilution of a red partridge gene and the lavender Orp is a dilution of a black gene...so you’d probably get a lot of black or red colorings? Maybe a small % of lavenders? Would be fun to try or see someone’s chickens who has!what would happen if you bred an Isabel Orpington roo to lavender hens???
You would get lavenders with yellow leakage.what would happen if you bred an Isabel Orpington roo to lavender hens???
Both isabels and lavenders have two recessive lavender genes, so you wouldn’t get any blacks or reds (lavender dilutes both). So if I even come close to understanding genetics...the Isabel is a dilution of a red partridge gene and the lavender Orp is a dilution of a black gene...so you’d probably get a lot of black or red colorings? Oh! Well I guess I still don’t know much about chicken genetics haha thanks! Both isabels and lavenders have the recessive lavender gene, so you wouldn’t get any blacks or reds (lavender dilutes both).
Lavender is black with recessive lavender, so that would be like crossing a black with a gold duckwing (or gold partridge in the case of orps). You wouldn’t get sex links.@The Moonshiner knows
I would think just lavender, or maybe sexlinks if it were the opposite pair, but I'm not too sure
Yeah, but Isabella is lavender with gold. It's not just normal gold duckwingLavender is black with recessive lavender, so that would be like crossing a black with a gold duckwing. You wouldn’t get sex links.
Isabel is lavender gold duckwing. Well, in orpingtons it’s actually lavender gold partridge, but it’s typically lavender gold duckwing. So, crossing (lavender) gold duckwing with (lavender) black is the same as crossing gold duckwing and black, minus lavender.Yeah, but Isabella is lavender with gold. It's not just normal gold duckwing
