Isbar thread

That's ironic, when I stopped at the store today I was looking at potential baskets :) On another note, of those eggs, half have sad looking air cells. I'm keeping them upright and hoping they'll all hatch but not holding my breath. Might have to do more Isbar hatching egg shopping.

More shopping is definitely necessary.

With the Isbars, even more so than with other breeds, you should not breed siblings together. If you plan to be a breeder, I would urge you to get stock from at least 2, preferably 3 different sources. Good luck with your hatch!

I just got started in Andalusians last year. Had problems finding stock. Lost some birds. Started again. Those hens are just now laying. I'm waiting on a shipment of eggs from across the big pond. Would love to get in on those.

Just wanted to update that of the 8 eggs only 3 have made it to this point. 2 green eggs and 1 brown. The rest had aircells likely too shaken from shipment but the packaging on them was great from the seller.

[/IMG]Question. I got an Isbar today. The lady sold her becauses she lays brown eggs. What else could she be to not lay green eggs? I don't care, she's beautiful, calm and wonderful. Just curious as what she is crossed with or what makes her lay brown eggs.

Do you know if she's from the new line of Isbars? Congrats on getting a new hen you love. : )

Can you send a pic? Isbars are blue egg layers

Isbars are GREEN egg layers. Unfortunately, not all the stock carries two copies of the blue egg gene to make the green, so brown egg layers are possible. (I think I explained the genetics earlier in this thread, or the other Isbar thread.) The brown egg layers should not be used for breeding, but they should still make great layers.
