Hello everyone, I've given the breed Ayam Cemani much consideration and I think I'm ready to make the leap and purchase a few. Are there any trusted breeders any of you could recommend? Many thanks.

Haha I just made a the same post so I’m going to keep an eye on yours as well. I also Want to make sure I do not receive any type of crosses at all.

I've given this small farm some consideration. Check out their website. Looks pretty legit, but you'll pay the price for it. Ayamcemanichicks.com I've also found a breeder who sold chicks for half of above mentioned breeders price. Idk, its a toss up with no standard of perfection to go by.

I have had pure AC, I had gotten hatching eggs one state over, and local. I love the beauty, and uniqueness but they do go broody, they don't lay much, so you may not hatch much. This was also the complaint I got from the local breeder guy. I don't want to talk you out of them. Just letting you know so you know what you are getting. They still are a rock star chicken, and if I get any in my rare breed orders, I will not be unhappy.

Oh also they lay a med/small tan egg.

I don’t care about the fact they don’t lay much I just adore they are blk. Anything with a blk heart like mine lol I must have❤️ I have found a few places that sell them and price is reasonable. I have seen some where I laughed at their prices knowing they are just overchargeing people because they can. Most of the overpriced ones I noticed don’t even look as good as the reasonable priced ones. People make me laugh. I may end up just buying an incubator so to hatch my own instead of shipping babies and so many things can go wrong and honestly it sickens me the way I have seen some of those packages handled by PO
Thank you for the advice I appreciate it

I bought a dozen+ hatching eggs off ebay last year. Five hatched which, for me, is a decent hatch rate. They have good color, but they all have floppy combs and I really hate that (discussed elsewhere just recently). Color of the first ten chicks hatching this spring all look like culls at this point. I'm going to hang with it for a few more months and then get rid of them unless the outlook improves.

I agree they are rockstars. I'm ok with broody, in hopes that it will produce chicks. I think they are so interesting to look at. Thanks for the info!

Good insight, and certainly something to consider. I found a farm in PA that looks very legit but really pricey. However, a local breeder has them half the price and she is just an hours drive. Love the black heart 🖤
