Isolate?

It was more of a tan color this time, which honestly could’ve been what it was the first time too, I was just so surprised the first time and it wasn’t too light out. It seemed more mucusy last time- this time it was maybe more comparable to watery pancake mix.

Would sand work until I get get to town?
Tan sounds more "normal" for sour crop.

Sand is better than nothing for grit. Usually if birds free range at all or have a rocky, dirt floor coop they can find what they need for grit, but I was thinking if everything is covered in snow they might not be able to find enough. However they're probably also not eating long grass in the middle of winter so I don't know how likely an impaction is, unless she could have eaten some straw or something.

They are currently staying in the greenhouse which has a gravel floor, so it is free of snow. I do have straw in there for insulated bedding, so that very well could be it.

Straw can be a little iffy. A lot of people use it for insulation, bedding but some chickens will eat for whatever reason and sometimes it doesn't go down well...

There is nothing else in the greenhouse that she could have gotten into like fertilizer or anything, right?

Nope- everything has either been removed or is covered.

Just checking in... Any improvement?
Yes! Thanks for checking in. Yesterday was a little rough-the crop was still very full and when I went to pick her up she started vomiting. I had no time to prevent it from going down her throat. She started coughing and shaking. I really thought I was going to lose her for a minute. But I gave her a break and helped her continue to get it out. Gave her some more molasses and coconut oil. I had also driven into town to pick up some oyster shell and grit which I offered to her that evening also. I checked on her this morning and the crop feels back to normal! I am keeping her in the shop to monitor her while I continue giving her apple cider vinegar and yogurt, along with her food which she is happy to eat.

I cannot thank you enough for your guidance and support. I really don’t think she would’ve made it if I didn’t have some encouragement and confidence!

Today she is scratching and pecking. She seems very happy and lively. My heart is full! ❤️

So so happy to hear she is doing better!

So, I kept her in the shop for a few days with ACV and yogurt mixed into her regular food. She’s also had oyster shell and grit access. Her crop is still much smaller than it had been. I decided to put her back in the coop today and things went ok with the flock, I think there was some pecking but not much, I’m keeping an eye on it. However, I decided to compare her crop to the other birds and even though it’s the same size as everybody else, hers is very squishy while theirs are all firm. Does this indicate we still have a problem?

Not necessarily though it's something to keep an eye on. She may still be trying to correct her digestive issue and drinking more water than usual which will make her crop softer than usual, but isn't necessarily bad. If her breath smells noticeably bad or her crop doesn't empty overnight and it's still squishy first thing in the morning before drinking then I'd say there is still a problem. Have you gotten your hands on an antifungal in case she still has a yeast infection?

Ok thank you. I’ll check her first thing in the morning. I do not have an anti fungal. The store close to me doesn’t carry it and I was having a hard time tracking it down in Walmart. What section would it be in? I think we’re headed to town tomorrow. What specifically should I look for? And I did see a thread that gave instructions how to use it, not sure if that’s reliable?
