Don't you think the two are related?

They probably are. I just don't know if the no permission error is always leading to the not found error, or if some attachments have had the not found error since the beginning. The former seems more likely, it's a simpler explanation, but I'm not sure what's actually happening.

The unassociated attachments (which are the ones that throw a "you don't have permission" error) are automatically deleted after 24 hours. So after that has happened, one would expect to see the "not found" error, even if the "you don't have permission" error had occured previously.

Wait, so that would have been before the upgrade. Can't confirm if it initially yielded the "no permission" error, though.

Are there multiple posts from shortly before the upgrade which display broken attachments like that one does?

No permission error. Something is causing attachments uploaded to messages to fail to associate with those messages.
