If my neighbor came to me with a similar complaint I would catch my peacock and stick him in an aviary, so may I suggest that you have a serious conversation with your neighbor and come up with a solution that is good for you, your birds, the peacock, and the neighbor? Last thing you want to do is start a war with your neighbors.
You have to remember, it is NOT your responsibilty to take care of someone else's animal just because they let it wander where it wants. If you do not want to shoot it, then talk to your neighbor again and mention animal control. Maybe just mentioning getting animal control involved will set them right. Good luck with whatever you choose, but your neighbor is lucky to have you next door. I would have killed it already, esp if it was bothering my chickens.I completely agree, honestly the last thing I want to do is shoot the Peacock. I wish he could comingle with my birds. Its a beautiful bird and I don't like being mean to animals in the first place. I will approach them one more time. If not maybe I can convince my husband to build an Aviary for him and try and see if I can get him some friends somewhere. I just dont know much about raising peacocks.
Another option would be to catch him and find him a new home, with neighbors permission of course.![]()
If you were to get more peahens, what's to stop all of them coming over and roosting on your cars and pooping all over your property? He would be happier with hens, but I think that would just make your situation worse.Do you think he would be better if he had more Peahens? They only have one, I dont know much about peacocks but a few articles online I read said they like a 1/5 ratio?
