Issues with a neighbors peacock...looking for suggestions.

If you aren't ready to shoot it, have you contacted animal control? They might be able to warn or cite the owner if they receive some complaints.

If my neighbor came to me with a similar complaint I would catch my peacock and stick him in an aviary, so may I suggest that you have a serious conversation with your neighbor and come up with a solution that is good for you, your birds, the peacock, and the neighbor? Last thing you want to do is start a war with your neighbors.

I completely agree, honestly the last thing I want to do is shoot the Peacock. I wish he could comingle with my birds. Its a beautiful bird and I don't like being mean to animals in the first place. I will approach them one more time. If not maybe I can convince my husband to build an Aviary for him and try and see if I can get him some friends somewhere. I just dont know much about raising peacocks.

You have to remember, it is NOT your responsibilty to take care of someone else's animal just because they let it wander where it wants. If you do not want to shoot it, then talk to your neighbor again and mention animal control. Maybe just mentioning getting animal control involved will set them right. Good luck with whatever you choose, but your neighbor is lucky to have you next door. I would have killed it already, esp if it was bothering my chickens.

Another option would be to catch him and find him a new home, with neighbors permission of course. :D

Do you think he would be better if he had more Peahens? They only have one, I dont know much about peacocks but a few articles online I read said they like a 1/5 ratio?

If you were to get more peahens, what's to stop all of them coming over and roosting on your cars and pooping all over your property? He would be happier with hens, but I think that would just make your situation worse. :( maybe you could adopt him and make him his own aviary?

There is no good reason to kill it. Catch it and rehome. If you keep it you are stealing, if you kill it you are a bit of a low life, but if you find it a new home where people take better care of it than the neighbor the bird(s) are better off and you won't have any more damage to your property. If you don't want to get other people involved then take it to animal control and they may find a new home for it.
