It has begun!!! 1st Time

Here is what I am seeing. Over the whole house temp fluctuations last night. With my target temp of 99.5°
This morning I looked at my probe thermometer that records high and low I have 98.5-100.5. So 1° plus or minus, not bad. Maybe I was to hard on the Incuview. Is that an acceptable fluctuation in temp?

I don't know how thin or thick the plastic Chinese units are. I suspect not much different. I hope the money is all in the instruments. I would guess that is the advantage this unit has over the Chinese ones. I also really like the clear top but I would think it also makes it more difficult to hold temp. I just wish the turning tray and the base of the unit was thicker plastic. Heck they could have even put a spray coating around the unit to thicken it up. I am referring to a spray coating like you would have around a stainless steel kitchen sink.
It's all water under the bridge now. It's still alot of fun tinkering with it. One thing that gets me is why do I need an offset for the temperature. I would hope that at least that would be right on.

I get it, there is always something that could have been done better...I tend to hone in on that stuff too. There are several things with the Incuview that I wish were different.
I may build an insulated base for mine....with adjustable feet for leveling!

Yes.
Where was the probe...at top of eggs or lower or...???

I have the two probes ( controller & thermometer) at about the same height middle of egg.

Notice to bungee cord addition. Top slid over when the turner arm tried to move the rack. Not sure what happened, I had noticed the top popped off and slid over about an inch. I started to think and only thing that could have caused it is somehow the turning rack got a little hung up and instead of moving the rack it move the lid. Just a word of caution to all. So I added the bungee for insurance.

Might want to check for that jam inside.
How many eggs do yo have in there?
I was wondering before if the lid is firmly set on base...
...or might your new base might be holding it up a tad too high?

27 eggs, when I first unpacked and was sliding the turning rack on the bottom I could feel a very slight hang up. I looked and couldn't see anything. The bottom mesh also had a slight hump to it. I have about a 1/4" space between lid and my box. When I slid everything down into place it was a snug fit which pushed slightly on the walls. I did back off on the screws a touch to open up the box which worked. Could have been a fluke but with no type of lock to hold the lid down which wouldn't be a bad idea to begin with the bungee will do for now.

The incuview is Way better than the cheap Chinese unit
...I also started with a similar Chinese incubator, and put up with the poor hatches, I wrapped mine in a cozy..... kind of like the old time tea cozy. It worked.... kind of..... but was unreliable and would cook eggs when it took an inkling.....so I upgraded to a brinsea ovation 56ex and just this last fall added the nurture rite 360 for hatching. I also played with a styrofoam bator for a couple months.... it's ok as a backup. Better than my cheap Chinese bator but not my first choice to use..... or even my second choice. I plan to get an incuview to expand my hatching potential. ... I have too many turkey eggs going right now there is no room for the Nn eggs lol

How do you like the Ovation? I’ve seen good and bad comments on them. I’m a big Brinsea fan, and thought the idea of the Ovations setup was awesome, but with some of the issues I’ve seen, I’m not so sure they improved upon the proven Octagons. What do you think of it?

I love mine..... with One exception.... it's hard to get humidity up for lockdown, I fixed it by adding 2 sour cream containers full of water with holes cut in the lids, so babies couldn't get in those crazy things will climb! Otherwise the temp is Rock steady, I love being able to adjust turning time increments, I Love being able to use the number and size(I invested in the big trays for turkey eggs) of turning trays I need for each hatch. If the humidity wells were bigger it would allow the humidity to get high enough to Hatch without flooding the floor of the bator and getting the eggs wet
....keep in mind I have had this thing running almost non stop for a year and a half now..with almost no issues.... oh wait I had to replace the fan at one point. Not a big deal all things considered.
I currently have 48ish eggs in it and will just keep rotating them through probably till summer..... so far hatching in the nurture rite 360 seems to work Really well, so I incubate in th he brinsea and h as tch in the 360, hatch rates are doing great and I am happy!

Fabulous! The humidity was pretty much what I remember reading about too. Thanks for the info. Have you tried any cloth down thru the wells? I forget how it’s built, but my Eco doesn’t have the humidity pump. I use a piece of quilt batting, pressed down into the wells, and up and over the sides, under the basket, and get more surface area that way. But it sounds like you have yours dialed in anyway.

And I also love hatching in the 360! Best view in town.

Ok I think I found the cause of the morning temperature swings that was driving my crazy.
So per the instructions I had the unit controller temp probe pointing down into the eggs. This put the probe right in the middle of the egg roughly. So depending on the current position of the egg turner tray, at times the probe was touching the egg and other times it was just in air space. I also had my thermometer probe at the same level.
Now I pulled both probes to just above the eggs so that they would no longer touch the eggs regardless of egg turner position. My temps have now stabilized to almost no movement.

Found an issue with the Incuview. For me when I make an adjustment using the temp calibration it is not a 1 for 1 move. Was driving me crazy. So I would do small adjustments of .1°F with temp calibration but the incubator would move nearly one full degree 1°F. So in order to make the fine adjustment of .2 I have to do it by changing my set temp to 99.7 to result in a 99.5 actual. Called manufacture and they said could be heater/fan issue. Sounded like they would send me a new one but I told him I couldn't do anything now due to the eggs being inside. Can't play around with it to much at the moment. Wondering if anyone else has noticed this issue?
Temp is pretty nice and steady with the .5° upswing when turner kicks in.
I am set at 99.5 with range of 99.4-100. So is that a range other IncuView users are getting? Or is temp moving to much? Not sure what else I can do to keep it more stable if needed.
