It HURTS!!!!!!!!

I feel for you, Steven doesn't suffer from eczema but he has horribly dry skin in the Winter. I don't recommend it to everyone but I use Corona on him, it's horse medicine. My sister-in-law thinks I'm nuts, but I've used Corona for his dry itchy skin and Blue Spray when he had Chicken Pox. I trust it more than what the Dr.s gave me and it stopped the itching. Hugs for you and your child.

I'm so sorry-- eczema runs in my family, so I know how horrible it can be. The only way to treat it that we've found is by testing for food allergies-- out of the two worst cases in the family one is allergic to eggs and dairy-- the other is allergic to corn and dairy... It's been hard (they're young) but worth it to have those horrible scabs go away.

I hope everything gets better! I'm sorry you're going through this-- so sad!

Your probably getting alot of ideas to try so heres another. My daughter had eczema when she was little, we had an older lady give us a little tin of cream to put on it and it worked. It was a god send! Its called udder creme you can get it at most feed and seed stores. Good Luck, I hope it improves for your little one.

My daughter has eczema also and it was very bad as a baby!! The ONLY thing that would work is Aquaphor. She used to go to bed at night and in her sleep scratch the backs of her knees and when she woke up in the morning they would be bloody and cracked!! I would slather aquaphor on the backs of her knees and then make her wear sweatpants or thermals to bed. It has helped her alot and she is 6 now and her skin is getting better. Also the doc prescribed me elidel which seemed to work ok but in my opinion the aquaphor is the best!! I hope everything works out!!

Yeah, I am the one with the hot house. Because of that I keep it very humid, too. I try really hard to balance it out.

It would not suprise me at ALL if your kid isn't producing too many histamines because your house is hot AND kids naturally have a higher metabolism.

For some animals - and I cannot say for sure it includes kids

- the more hot they are they more their body produces histamines which are related to itchy skin conditions. I read about it after having a horse that just goes crazy itching and thrashing (she'll throw herself on the ground to itch) when she gets too hot in Spring when she has a winter coat, and it turns out the histamines are the problem.

So you KNOW what I'm going to suggest. Turn down the heat 5 or 10 degrees for a week and see if that gives him any relief. And put out a hygrometer and see what it does for the humidity.

I know you don't wanna, but it may make a big difference in how he feels. Cool skin is *never* as itchy.

The thing that makes me feel not too guilty about the heat is that he handles heat WELL. He, like me, can't handle being cold. Even if it is around 100 degrees he is fine (I mean outside, I don't get the house that hot LOL). When it gets boiling hot outside his skin is generally at its best, and I keep the house this warm in the Summer, too. But, I will try turning the heat down for awhile.
