One suggestion I'd make is to put the hardware cloth on the outside, rather than inside. Predators are going to try to break in, your chicken won't break out. I've seen people do the same thing with fencing: if you're fencing in, fence on the inside of the posts, fencing out it goes on the outside. Chicken yard fence goes on the outside.

Everyone, I have a question about my coop: Should there be a way for air to enter through the bottom of the coop near one of the walls? Maybe about 5" x 5" square covered by hardware cloth?
