from what I have seen and read cage free eggs mean that they are not in battery cages but are still thousands and thousands in a small area. they are still in a factory no sun no grass. just in a room. they say cage free to charge more for the eggs.

this is what I was going to say too.. there was a post on here recently linking to an article about "free range" eggs having the chickens actually beeing WORSE off than caged chickens..
if you you tube search you can find some horrible things.. but with the "free range" chickens they are still packed in there real tight and lay their eggs in there own poo and trample and peck (leading to more beak trimming) and still not a good situation there. But very misleading on the egg cartons..
At the risk of opening a whole other can of worms....It seems to me that your friends objection to eating fertile eggs has less to do with her eating choices (that a sperm cell = meat) than it does with her feelings about abortion.
A fertile egg is a potential life that she is taking away by eating the egg. Not my personal feelings, just a thought that explains her strange (to some of us) logic.

Knowing her thoughts on that issue, I can tell you for certain that it has nothing to do with personal feelings about abortion, so it is just her eating choices. You are right though, that would seem a logical step to take had she been pro life.
Veggiesoars always make interesting friends . . . meaties always seem to have the same reasons for eating meat, but every veggie I meet seems to have a different reason. Plus, I like cooking for them . . . it's nice having to challenge myself to serve something different for get togethers. I'll have to remember to warn her off of the baked goods from now on, though, because I'm not about to start buying eggs from elsewhere to bake with when I have such a fantastic supply at home
