Italian Speckled Quail...help please

I hear you....if I could do it "legally" right now, I would. As soon as the zoning changes, then I'll probably apply for the permit. I have to say that I really hate doing things this way. Even though he said "What he doesn't know..." well, what happens when my husband wants to build his garage this spring and we need the guy to come out for the building permit? And now my hubby is getting into the rebel thing and he's putting a wood stove in his shop without asking the town about it. Granted, the wood stove would be allowed (our neighbor has one in theirs) it would be allowed, but by not asking....it's asking for trouble! And then while they're here to see about that....what will I do with my chickens?

As you can see, I've thought about all of this a lot. (okay....worried!) I guess it's the price I'll have to pay for having outlaw chickens. I really want to fence in out yard.....for the privacy and the peace of mind!

*big hugs*
I hpe the ordinance changes in your favor ASAP! I also agree on getting up a fence just incase. One of those privacy fences. I'd probably go as far as having a bird recording going loud where hte birds are so when he comes if one of your chickens makes noise, and he asks what you have back there say "oh nothing I'm an avid bird watcher, i fenced in thier feeder so they stay safe and comfortable and I have a recording going to attract the birds" he he! Just a thought!

I have my chickens in a place where others have a few also....in the country...1 long street bordered by farmers fields even a lady that works for the city had chickens when I moved here 4 years ago. I got my start in chickens that were left here when the previous owners sold this home to us.

I'm fenced and have a 15-18 foot tall cedar hedge on both sides of my large yard and still the next door neighbor called the city to say that he was *tired of my chickens* The city gave me a month to *get rid* of them and needless to say I was more than frantic...more like insane (I have about 40, most of which I've hatched) My SO asked for an extention and 1 week before dooms day they answered with an afirmative and gave us until the Spring.....All that to say be well warned of the heartache involved in being turned in.........We are now, in the winter

, having to look for a farmette to move to.

Are you sure the law says you need a permit for this breed of quail? Here in KY, you only need one for native species, or if you plan on selling them in large quantities. Or if you plan on releasing them.

Ditto "sort of". Here in TN you can raise the natives without a permit, but if you propogate you have to have the permit. I drilled TWRA hard on that as I considered the birds sitting the nest, it was stated that even if they nested and hatched I needed a permit.....or the birds would need one.
