Hey you know if Curly breeds with your RIR girls, the babies will all be sex-linked so you'll be able to tell them apart as chicks. Didn't know if you knew that or not.

Oh you know it may be backwards - the RIR male on a barred rock female....

But the RIRm xBRf is the black star.

Do you know what breed your male is?

In any case, they're two of my favorite types of chickens.

You'll be lucky if your male is a plymouth rock barred rock as they're nice boys.

Yeah, he's barred rock... and he is pretty tame so far... I try and handle him often and he hates it but he's stopped trying to run so much... but he is also kind of a trouble maker in the morning when I let them out... He's decided he needs to show his ladies who is boss, but only for like 10 minutes... but I just love how he'll be on one side of the run and he spots something he needs to run after like a bug. Then he will squat a bit and break into a sprint... It reminds me of one of those toys that you press down and pull back and then release... but anyway... They are so much fun!!! I just love my birds!!!

I clicked on your website and looked at the pics you have up... Look's like you have a nice happy family... How many chickens do you keep?

Ahhh thanks! The website is very much "in progress" rather than finished, but I wanted some pics up.

Right now, I have 17 chickens. Seven frizzle cochin bantams, 3 red stars (2f, 1m), one pair of japanese bantams, one lemon d'uccle, one white cochin bantam, one red cochin bantam, one cubalaya, and one buff orp.

I'm getting a new trio of barred rock bantams in the fall. YAY I used to breed some show birds, but raccoons think they taste good.

So I had to change some things here.

I also keep geese, a peacock, ducks (muscovies currently), and turkeys - oh, and parrots!

Thanks for the kind words! I should work more on my website tonight.

I'm glad to hear about the rock boy. I love those guys - they're so awesome. And yeah - they're kind of like "Mom, not in front of the girls" when you spoil them.

BUt they're good little roosters.

I love seeing them run like that. For some reason, they always look like little guys running with breeches on and hands in their pockets. It tickles me! They're great fun!
